On behalf of UEFA, I am delighted to welcome you to Kyiv for the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid CF and Liverpool FC. Another fantastic season comes to a close with tonight’s showpiece occasion in the Ukrainian capital. Two high-quality teams featuring some of the world’s top footballers are set to provide us with a match to remember.

The UEFA Champions League final is the premium event in European club football, and the iconic trophy is the one that the stars all want to win – adding their names to the distinguished history of a competition that continues to thrill millions of football fans across the globe.

Від імені УЄФА я із задоволенням вітаю вас у Києві на фіналі Ліги чемпіонів УЄФА сезону 2017/18 між «Реалом» та «Ліверпулем».Черговий фантастичний сезон завершується сьогоднішнім футбольним святом у столиці України. Дві висококласні команди, до складу яких входять гравці світового рівня, готові подарувати нам матч, що будуть пам’ятати дуже довго.

Фінал Ліги чемпіонів УЄФА є головною подією європейського клубного футболу, а цей знаменитий трофей хочуть виграти всі зірки – і тим самим увійти до видатної історії турніру, що продовжує захоплювати мільйони футбольних уболівальників у всьому світі.

Користуючись нагодою, я хочу подякувати Федерації футболу України та її президенту Андрію Павелку за проведення цього фіналу на величному НСК «Олімпійський» – арені, що чудово підходить для заходів такого розмаху. Дві групи вболівальників створять неймовірну атмосферу, що лише прикрасить видовище, на яке ми з таким нетерпінням очікуємо.

Увага всього футбольного світу буде прикута до Києва та цього фіналу. У мене немає жодних сумнівів, що команди та гравці будуть на висоті. Я бажаю їм удачі в цьому матчі, який, сподіваюсь, пройде в дусі «фейр-плей» та поваги.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Football Federation of Ukraine and its president Andriy Pavelko for hosting the final at the magnificent NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium – a fitting venue for an event of this magnitude. The two sets of fans will create a vibrant atmosphere that can only add to the spectacle that we are eagerly awaiting.

The attention of the football world will be focused on Kyiv and this final. I have no doubt that the teams and players will rise to the occasion, and I wish them the very best of luck for an encounter that I hope will be marked by the spirit of fair play and respect.
